President Barry sent this message:
Big R Store of Union Gap will host a clinic this coming Saturday, June 4th, starting at 11:00 a.m. The clinic will be presented by Gary Brownell of the Queen Bee Ranch in Yakima (where we go for trail obstacle coursework). Gary will be doing groundwork and starting a colt demonstration in a roundpen with a three year old and a four year old he currently owns. The admission is free and there will be a free BBQ chicken dinner hosted by Big R. Big R is located in Union Gap at the corner of Washington Street and First Ave.
Sounds like this is a “observers only” clinic, and so avoids the Virus issue.
I think things are calming down some about the EHV-1 scare: a few events are starting to contemplate happening, with some strict “bio-security” measures in place.
I personally am considering attending the “Cowboy Mountain Trail Challenge” on the 10th in Walla Walla. The host ranch has basically blocked all horse traffic in or out since the outbreak, to try and maintain a virus-free premises. They will be monitoring for high temperatures along the guidelines of WSU’s recommendations. I will probably not spend the night, to avoid stabling near other horses, and will try to avoid any direct contact between Kate (or I) and any other equines. The thing that will prevent me from going at this point is gas money! Anyone want to share the costs? I’ll drive!
